Springfield, OH — The 73rd annual Fall Blooded Horse Sale, held Nov. 17-18 at the Champions Center in Springfield, Ohio, was terrific in spite of the pandemic. Virtual live bidding via Proxi-bid bolstered the already strong on site attendance. An abundance 2- and 3-year-olds fresh from the Midwestern stakes programs, along with 122 yearlings and dozens of in foal mares, provided attractive restocking opportunities for the eager crowd.

The 3-year-old Ohio Sires Stakes winning filly A Fancy Face topped the sale at $88,000. Consigned by Burke Racing Stable, the $200,000-winning daughter of My MVP was purchased by Greg Luther of Ohio.

Runner-up was the talented Indiana Sires Stakes placed Skyway Victor, selling to Engel Stable and Jerry Graham of Illinois for $65,000. The Tellitlikeitis 2-year-old winner of nearly $50,000 was consigned by Simmons Stable, agent.

Trotters are always in high demand, and J. L. Adams of Pennsylvania signed the ticket for a couple of real nice ones. First he picked off the seven time winning 4-year-old son of Guccio, Buck Dancer, for $41,000 and followed that with the Buckeye Stallion Series champion Muskingum by Triumphant Caviar, for $28,000.

A pair of Ohio Sires Stakes placed 3-year-old Pet Rocks, Rock Smart and Mr Ds Rock, were hot items. Rock Smart, consigned by Burke Racing Stable, went to Ken Weckstein of Maryland for $36,000 and Mr Ds Rock, consigned by Tammy Carter, was purchased by Ervin Miller of Florida for $26,000.

The yearling session Tuesday morning opened with the highly anticipated Claridge Hall from the last crop of Cash Hall. Consigned by Winterwood Farm for Walnut Hall Ltd., the handsome duel Ohio/Kentucky eligible colt out of a full sister to world champion CR Kay Suzie was purchased by McClelland and Melshine of Ohio for $58,000.

In addition to the sale topper, Greg Luther also signed the ticket for the beautiful Uncle Peter colt Uncle Comer for $35,000. That consignor, Ammon Hershberger, also sold the What The Hill filly What A Victory to Richard and Joyce McClelland for $30,000.

Spring Haven Farm acting as agent for the All American Harnessbreds reduction offered the leading broodmares in the sale. Silverstar Volo, a 12-year-old multiple stakes producing daughter of Andover Hall, in foal to Cantab Hall, sold for $35,000 to Atlantic Trot of Florida.

She was soon followed by Carols Desire, in foal to Fear The Dragon, who was purchased for $25,000 by Barry Bell, agent.

Sugar Valley Farm was pleased to get the final bid on Kolachke 2,1:59.2f, a young half-sister to the sensational sire Chapter Seven, for $25,000.
