All-time high at Sweden’s Elitlopp sale

Solvalla, Sweden — The highest price ever for a yearling and the highest average ever at this year’s Elitlopp-sale held Friday night (May 25) in Stockholm.

The top price, $160,000 was paid for a colt sired by French champion sire, Ready Cash and out of  Aisle Stand, she by Scarlet Knight.

Trainer Lutfi Kolgjini signed the sales slip.

Ready Cash and two of his sons proved to be very popular at the sale. Four of the five most expensive yearlings were either by Ready Cash or by two of his sons, Bold Eagle and Bird Parker.

Âkta Lavec (sired by Bold Eagle), who is closely related to top trotter and the favorite in the Elitlopp, Readly Express was sold for the second highest price of $140,000.

Two fillies by Muscle Hill were each sold for $94,000.

The Swedish stallion, Maharajah proved to be very popular. 10 of his offsprings were sold for an average of $42,700.

The average for the 76 yearlings from 94, who went through the ring, was $29,700 – no less than 32% up from last year.
