Amelias Courage A upsets; Burke wins five

Washington, PA — Fifth by 3-1/2 lengths at the top of the stretch, Amelias Courage A unleashed a late kick that carried her to a 9-1 upset in Tuesday’s (Nov. 23) feature at Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, a $12,100 fillies and mares conditioned pace.

Ronnie Wrenn Jr. piloted the 7-year-old daughter of Courage Under Fire and American Dreamer to a 1:53.2 win for trainer Richard Perfido and owner Win Rhythm Stables. Lady Newton was second, beaten a half length, with Zoe Ellasen third. Amelias Courage A’s career statistics now include 24 wins and $237,104 in earnings.

Trainer Ron Burke collected five wins on the 13-race card, while Aaron Merriman and Wrenn each enjoyed a four-bagger.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (Nov. 24), when the 13-race program features a $1,151.78 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
