Americanprimetime leads five-bagger for Hennessey

Nichols, NY — Wally Hennessey won five races on Sunday (Aug. 4) at Tioga Downs, including the featured $12,000 Open Handicap Pace with Americanprimetime ($5.10).

In the feature, Rebellious (Mike Merton) went to the front with a fast quarter of :25.4, while Americanprimetime and Funknwaffles (Gates Brunet) followed in second and third, respectively. Rebellious slowed things down a little with a :28.3 second quarter, hitting the half in :53.4. Americanprimetime made his move with three-eighths of the mile left, but Rebellious still led to three-quarters in 1:21.2.

Americanprimetime charged to the front as they reached the stretch, finding another gear to equal his seasonal best of 1:50. Rebellious held on for second, and Funknwaffles finished third.

Americanprimetime is a 7-year-old horse by American Ideal owned by the Rock & Roll Stable Inc. and trained by Rick Dane Jr. It was his eighth win this season and the 36th of his career.

Hennessey’s other wins came with Thatsjusthowiroll ($7.90), Lily Hammer ($6.10), Miss Real Deal ($5.90) and Hugh Hefner N ($3.20).

Joe Skowyra trained four winners on the day. He combined with Hennessey to win with Hugh Hefner N. His other wins came with Mr Big Bucks ($2.30), Freak On A Leash ($4.20) and The Spy ($15.40).

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Friday (Aug. 9) with an 11-race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
