Anthony Romano, 82, dies

Columbus, OH — Anthony L. Romano, 82, of Barnegat, N.J., died Jan. 9, 2019, at Southern Ocean Medical Center, Manahawkin.

Born in Mamaroneck, N.Y., he lived in North Brunswick for 36 years before moving to Barnegat 18 years ago.

Mr. Romano was a superintendent and vice president at Napp-Greco, Newark, for 60 years before retiring in 2015. A horse racing enthusiast, he enjoyed many racetracks, but was especially fond of Saratoga. For many years, he owned Standardbred horses, including TW Troubles, RU Trouble, Popular Arrival, Winning Hitter, and Kash Cordial.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicol and Carmella; grandson, Anthony M.; and siblings, Theresa Pannorfi, Philip, and Nicholas. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elsie; children, Anthony Jr. (Margaret), Bill (Donna), Bob (Pam), Linda (Beehearts) Cassidy (Tom), and Lauren; grandchildren, Nick (Tara), Robert (Courtney), Thomas (Audrey) Cassidy, Jackie Cassidy, Eric Cassidy, Daniella Boyer and Alyssa Boyer; great-granddaughters, Adelaide and Antonia; and sister, Mary Geletto.

Cremation was private under the direction of Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday (Jan. 15) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Toms River.
