The Trond Smedshammer-trained gelding, whose career wins included a Breeders Crown, Maple Leaf Trot and Oslo Grand Prix, banked $4.28 million in purses in a career that spanned the years 2006-2014.

“It was very unexpected,” Smedshammer told Trot Insider of Arch Madness’ passing. “He retired up in Maine with Likeabatoutahell, they were always paddock buddies when they were racing and they both retired at the same time.”
