Armagedon Seelster takes Harrah’s Philadelphia feature; five for Napolitano

Chester, PA — Armagedon Seelster went right to the lead and took the shortest way home in the $18,000 featured trot on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 10) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, holding off two threatening foes for a 1:55.1 win.

Pat Berry sent the Muscle Mass gelding to the front before the :27.4 quarter, and didn’t receive great pressure through middle splits of :56.4 and 1:26. When the wide tiers did not keep up into the stretch, pocket-sitting Wisenheimer and third-in Sylvesteramericait had room to angle outside and challenge. Armagedon Seelster dug down to maintain a neck advantage over Sylvesteramericait at the finish, with Wisenheimer narrowly missing second. Ron Coyne Jr. conditions the winner for Ron Coyne Stables Inc., Blair Corbeil and Mike McAllister.

In a $14,500 trot, Simply Volo tucked fourth behind a wall of early leavers, advanced uncovered at the half, and in a battle that lasted more than the last quarter mile, got by pacesetting Amador by a neck in 1:55.2. The gelded son of Crazed pushed his earnings to $305,075 for driver Corey Callahan, trainer Joe Pavia Jr., and owners Steven Held, Jack Shaffer, Jeffrey Nanna and Pint Size Racing LLC.

Driver George Napolitano Jr. had five winners on the afternoon card, bringing his career total to 9,997. Napolitano, who currently ranks 11th among active drivers, is booked on eight drives for the Friday card at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Post time is 12:25 p.m. Eastern.
