Banca romps again in GSY event at Monticello

Monticello, NY — The rain held up for the second leg of the GSY Series at Monticello Raceway on Thursday (July 11) in the eighth race on the card. Eight pacers went to post and under some mild urging at the start, Monica Banca and Macherati took the lead from the dreaded eight hole and never looked back.

Banca drove her pacer to perfection. She left from the outside and carved out some fast quarter and half-mile fractions. After the half, she was able to settle her pacer down and won by only five lengths this week. She won by more than seven the previous week.

Hannah Miller, driving Fox Valley Bailey, completed the exacta and pocket-sitter Awesum Ace, with Rob Harmon in the bike, held for third. The mile was timed in 1:57 over the half-mile strip.

Macherati is a 7-year-old gelding by Mach Three. He is owned and trained by Rick Dane Jr.

The GSY Series returns to Monticello next Thursday (July 18) as the third leg of the series takes place. First post is slated for 12:55 p.m.
