Beltrami wins for second consecutive week in the GSY Spring Series

East Rutherford, NJ – As the field of nine assembled behind the gate for the GSY Series contest in first race on the Friday night (March 22) Big M card, a cavalry charge ensued to the first stanza.  After the dust settled, Monica Banca aboard CC Big Boy Sam took command just after the quarter pole and remained there until the top of the stretch.

That is when the closers came calling along with some horses sitting second and third on the inside.  When all was said and done, Tony “The Judge” Beltrami aboard So Take That put in his closing kick on the outside to win for a second consecutive week with that horse.  He won by a 1-3/4 length margin over the longest shot on the board, May I Cruise West (62-1), with Mark Schullstrom doing the steering.  Banca was able to hold onto the show dough with CC Big Boy Sam.

“My horse was good again tonight,” Beltrami stated after the race.  “I know Mark(Schullstrom) had a lot of horse so I kept him inside of me before tipping three wide to keep him from getting the jump on me.  I believe this move helped me gain another victory.”

It was Beltrami’s fourth winner of his career as he gets closer to earning his “A” license.  The mile was timed in 1:55.4.  So Take That is a 10-year-old Camluck gelding owned by Spencer Goldin and trained by Alexandra Goldin.

The GSY will be back next week for its third leg of the GSY Series with a first race post is slated for 7:15 p.m.
