Bier wins three at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Sean Bier had a driving triple and won a thrilling stretch duel aboard Auntmilly’smartini ($7.20) to win the $12,500 Mares Open Handicap on Wednesday night (Dec. 2) at Rosecroft.

Bier sat patiently in the pocket as leader Sweet Bobbie carried the duo into the stretch, drawing clear from the rest of the field. As they turned for home Bier chose to go outside and beat Sweet Bobbie by the narrowest of margins to win in 1:53.1. It was the fourth win of the year by the 5-year-old Three Olives mare and first at the top level for owner-trainer Brittany Bounds.

Austin Hanners picked up his first two wins of the Roscroft Fall Meet on Wednesday night including a $12,000 Open Handicap Trot win with Skyway Cobra in 1:56.2. It was the fifth win of the year for the 7-year-old Here Comes Herbie gelding owned and trained by Arlene Cameron.

Jason Thompson continued his impressive Fall Meet with three wins and Declan Donoway had two. Cameron had two training wins on the night as did Bounds and Jonathan Nikodemski.
