Bilibili is superior in under saddle races

Bilibili is owned and bred by Jean-Pierre Barjon, trained by Lauren Claude Abrivard and with his son, Alexandre, in the saddle, Bilibili was an easy winner of the Prix du Cornulier, the world’s richest under saddle race, for the second year in a row.

Bilibili won the 1-11/16 mile race handily in 1:56 (mile rate) on Sunday (Jan. 19) followed by Etoile de Bruyere and Feeling Cash.

Not since November 2018 has Bilibili been defeated in an under saddle race and this was his fourth victory in a row.

Abrivard has chosen not to race Bilibili very often. In fact, Bilibili has raced just six times since Jan. 6, 2019.

In 2019 Bilibi won the Prix du Calvados a fortnight before he went on to win the Prix du Cornulier.

Preparing Bilibili for this year’s Cornulier, Abrivard raced Bilibi twice in the sulky in two of the qualifying races for the Prix d’Amerique, but he finished unplaced in both.

Back in the under saddle race, Prix du Calvados on Jan. 5, Bilibili was victorious again and Sunday he won the Prix du Cornulier.

This year Abrivard may choose another path for Bilibili as he probably will race the trotter in Prix de l’Ile de France on Feb. 2. If Bilibili wins that race he is entitled to a bonus of 100,000 Euros for the wins in Calvados, Cornulier and Ile de France.
