Bo Mach emerges victorious in Delaware

Dover, DE — Bo Mach stalked a blistering pace and emerged a 13-1 upset winner in Thursday’s (Jan. 20) $28,500 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs.

Bo Mach stalked patiently from third as Rose Run Uriah and Island Of The Sea contested a :26.4 first quarter. George Napolitano Jr. angled 8-5 favorite Island Of The Sea out of the pocket and into control with a lap to go, and Bo Mach continued to save ground as the outer flow formed behind Penzance Hanover, who angled out of fourth nearing a :54.4 half. After blazing through three-quarters in 1:22.4, Island Of The Sea began to weaken, prompting Pat Berry to angle off the pegs with Rose Run Uriah, a move which, in turn, opened up the inside for Bo Mach and Corey Callahan to rally to a nose victory in 1:51.1 over the late-charging Caviart Eden (Tim Tetrick). Rose Run Uriah finished third.

Dylan Davis trains Bo Mach, a 7-year-old Mach Three gelding who paid $28.20 to win, for Howard Taylor.

Callahan, Napolitano and Tony Morgan all registered driving triples.

Racing returns to Dover Downs on Monday (Jan. 24) with a $1,761 Pick-4 carryover. First post is 4:30 p.m.
