Bold Eagle back in action

Vincennes, FR — For the first time following his win in the Breeders Crown French top trotter, Bold Eagle returns to racing Sunday afternoon (Dec. 8) in the Grand Prix du Bourbonnais at Vincennes.

18 trotters will line up at a distance of 1-3/4 mile and for the first time will Bold Eagle race without front shoes and he will also have a new driver, Eric Raffin.

However, this is not the first time Eric Raffin is behind Bold Eagle. Back in 2016 he drove and won two races with Bold Eagle as Franck Nivard, at that time the regular driver of Bold Eagle was suspended.

Grand Prix du Bourbonnais has a total purse of $122,500 and is the second test race for the Prix d’Amerique. The first three in the Bourbonnais earn a spot in the Prix d’Amerique.

Saturday the 4-year-old trotter in France, Face Time Bourbon with Björn Goop will race in the Prix Octave Douesnel over 1-11/16 miles and with a total purse of $110,000.

Face Time Bourbon has not raced since he won the Grand Prix de l’UET (the European Trotting Derby) at Vermo, Finland in October in a very convincing style.

Björn Goop has been the regular driver of Bold Eagle in Europe but has opted to drive Face Time Bourbon, who also is aimed for the Prix d’Amerique and at present, the bookmakers favorite.

Both Bold Eagle and Face Time Bourbon is trained by Sebastian Guarato.
