Bold Eagle disappointing fourth in Prix de Bretagne

Bold Eagle, driven by Franck Nivard, finished a disappointing fourth in the Prix de Bretagne at Vincennes today.

The richest active French trotter, Bold Eagle, went to post as the 1-5 favorite, but though he got a good trip following Davidson du Pont driven by Jean Michel Bazire, Bold Eagle was never going to win.

Instead 5-year-old Davidson du Pont, who for the first time took on elder top trotters, won the race by a half-length followed by another 5-year-old, the fast-finishing mare Delia du Pommereux driven by Damien Bonné. Bird Parker finished third, while Bold Eagle had to settle for fourth place.

The three first finishers are now qualified to race in the Prix d’Amerique.

Davidson du Pont has had a banner year, where he has won no less than three Group 1 and three Group 2 races. He is homebred at the Ecurie Albert Rayon-farm and has Star’s Pride in his pedigree 4 x 5.
