Bold Eagle is ready for the Winter meeting

French trotting superstar Bold Eagle returned to action with an easy victory Sunday afternoon (Oct. 28) at a packed Hippodrome de Feurs in the French province.

Bold Eagle, driven by Franck Nivard, won the 1-3/4 mile event in 1:58 (mile rate) in a hand drive.

Bold Eagle had not raced since July 8 and will now be headed for the prestigious French Winter meeting at Vincennes. The target is to win the Prix d’Amerique on Jan. 27 and Bold Eagle will race three times before.

His next outing will be on Nov. 18 in the Prix de Bretagne. After that Dec. 9 is the Prix Bourbonnais and the last race for Bold Eagle before the big one will be the Prix de Bourgogne on Dec. 30.

That means that trainer Sebastian Guarato as per now has opted to skip the last of the four B-races, Prix de Belgique, on Jan. 13.

In Sweden, 2017 Hambletonian winner Perfect Spirit won an elimination for the Breeders Crown at Solvalla. Perfect Spirit with Ôrjan Kihlström in the bike won the 1-5/16 mile event in 1:55.4f (mile rate).

But Kihlström may not be behind Perfect Spirit in the final, which is raced on Nov. 11, as he won another elimination with the Swedish Derby winner Who’s Who, who was timed in 1:54.3f (mile rate).
