Buckeye Stallion Series heads to the Champaign County Fairgrounds

Grove City, OH – The Champaign County Fair in Urbana, Ohio, will host 14 races of The Buckeye Stallion Series, for two-year-olds, Tuesday (Aug. 11) night with a first race post of 6:30 p.m. The program will feature 95 horses split into five divisions of two-year-old pacing colts, five divisions of two-year-old pacing fillies and four divisions of two-year-old filly trotters.

Horses in the BSS for pacing colts include 10 previous winners in the series. The fastest is Open My Eyes for Dan O’Mara who scored at Scioto Downs in 1:53.1. Imagine It, trained by Kent Wilcox, has won six of seven this season which includes two series events with the fastest in 1:54.3. Twig trained by Mike Polhamus and K B Mac trained by Dan Venier have also won two legs this season.

The fastest filly is Heavenissofaraway. She went in 1:54.1 at Northfield for trainer Anette Lorentzon. Smothastenesewisky is trained by Brian Haynes and has won three in a row with a 1:54.2 mark at Northfield. The filly Well N Down is a perfect two for two for trainer Jason McGinnis with a mark of 1:56.1 at Scioto Downs.

Only two fillies on the trot side have wins in the BSS so far this year. The fastest is WF Fire in 1:59.4 for trainer Herman Hagerman. The filly is three of six this season. The other winner is Charming Nancy for Chris Beaver in 2:00.2 at Scioto and 2:00.4 at Northfield.
