Busy weekend on tap for Ohio horsemen

by Jessica Schroeder, assistant fair liaison, the U.S. Trotting Association

Columbus, OH — This weekend will be a busy one for Ohio horsemen and will give citizens of the Buckeye state many choices for cheap or free entertainment.

Racing kicks off at the Madison County fair in London July 11 and 12. Eight races are on the card each day with a 12:00 noon post time.

Saturday, July 11, also marks the Midland Acres Open House, which is being held as a preview for racing in Washington Court House on July 31 and August 1. The Fayette County Fair agreed to be a “test market” fair for the Best Practices manual that was put together by a committee made up of USTA employees, fair board members, race secretaries and horsemen. The open house will offer horseshoe decorating, a mock winner’s circle and a couple of retired horses for children to brush and take pictures with.

Racing will also be held at the Clinton County Fair in Wilmington on July 12 and 13 with a post time of 12:00 noon.
