Goshen, NY — The Living Horse Hall of Fame nominating committee of the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame has announced the results of recent balloting to determine the 2021 inductees into the Harness Racing Living Horse Hall of Fame. Museum members voted for the three horses they felt best exemplified greatness. Their choices are racehorses Chapter Seven and Father Patrick, and racemare Peaceful Way.

The other nominees were Andover Hall, Mission Brief and Yankee Glide.

Chapter Seven, Father Patrick and Peaceful Way will be inducted on Hall of Fame Day (Sunday, July 4) along with the class of 2020: Always B Miki, Bee A Magician, Sweet Lou, Danae and Precious Beauty.

The ceremonies honoring these extraordinary Standardbred horses will take place during the Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame’s annual dinner. Standardbreds are eligible for nomination to harness racing’s highest accolade if they comply with the following criteria:

AS A RACEHORSE
Must be retired from racing for two years. Must have been the winner of $2.5 million lifetime with two Dan Patch Awards or been the winner of $3 million lifetime or been named Dan Patch Horse of the Year. Horses over the age of 12 that are still racing and meet the criteria are also eligible.

AS A RACEMARE
Must be retired from racing for two years. Must have been the winner of $1.5 million lifetime with two Dan Patch Awards or been the winner of $2.5 million lifetime or been named Dan Patch Harness Horse of the Year. Mares over the age of 12 that are still racing and meet the criteria are also eligible.

AS A STALLION
Must rank among the 10 all-time leading moneywinning sires at his gait or have sired at least 100 $200,000 winners or been the leading moneywinning sire at his gait in three or more seasons.

The 2012 Dan Patch Horse of the Year, Chapter Seven was foaled on April 2, 2008 in Cream Ridge, N.J. The world champion trotter’s lifetime race record is 28-20-4-1 with total career earnings of $1,954,966.

In 2010, 2-year-old Chapter Seven finished on the board in all of his eight starts, winning seven and earning $211,549. Victories included two legs and the final of the New Jersey Sire Stakes, the Harold Dancer Memorial and the Matron Stakes (in a stakes record 1:55.2f).

Three-year-old Chapter Seven earned $720,392 while winning five of 10, including the elimination and final of the Breeders Crown, the Stanley Dancer Memorial, Bluegrass, and Matron Stake elimination.

As a four-year-old in 2012, Chapter Seven won eight of 10 with two seconds (Maple Leaf Trot, Credit Winner), while recording four sub-1:51 miles. Chapter Seven opened his season with back-to-back world-record miles, winning in 1:50.4 in both the Titan Cup Prep and Titan Cup. He went on to victories in his second Breeders Crown, the Nat Ray (in a world record 1:50.1), Maxie Lee Memorial (setting a stakes record 1:52.1), the Allerage and the American-National. Chapter Seven earned $1,023,025 and was voted 2012 Dan Patch Horse of the Year, Trotter of the Year and Older Trotting Horse of the Year.

As a stallion with five crops racing, Chapter Seven has sired winners of $29.6 million, including 2018 Trotter of the Year, 2018 Dan Patch 3-year-old Trotting Filly of the Year and 2019 Dan Patch and O’Brien Older Trotting Mare, world champion Atlanta 4,1:49.1 ($2,659,653), winner of the 2018 Hambletonian and Kentucky Futurity, 2019 Graduate and 2020 Maple Leaf Trot; and 2018 Dan Patch 2-year-old Trotting Colt of the Year, world champion Gimpanzee 4,1:50 ($2,701,075), winner of the 2018 Breeders Crown, 2019 Breeders Crown and Yonkers Trot, and 2020 Breeders Crown, Hambletonian Maturity and John Cashman Memorial.

FATHER PATRICK

Foaled on March 12, 2011 in Versailles, Ky., two-time world champion trotter Father Patrick has a lifetime race record of 33-23-6-0.

In 2013, 2-year-old Father Patrick won 10 of his 11 starts with one second, earning $744,057. Victories included the Breeders Crown, William Wellwood and Peter Haughton Memorial. In his Breeders Crown elimination, Father Patrick set the still-standing world record of 1:52.1 for 2-year-old trotting colts on a five-eighths-mile track. The second-leading 2-year-old moneywinning Standardbred of 2013, he was voted Dan Patch and O’Brien 2-year-old Trotting Colt of the Year.

Three-year-old Father Patrick finished on the board in 15 of 17 starts while earning $1,693,081, the most of any Standardbred in 2014. Major victories included the Breeders Crown in a stakes record 1:51.4, Canadian Trotting Classic, Beal Memorial in a still-standing world record 1:50.2 for 3-year-old trotters on a five-eighths-mile track, Zweig Memorial, Stanley Dancer Memorial, Pennsylvania Sires Stakes championship and American-National. Father Patrick was voted 2014 Dan Patch 3-year-old Trotting Colt of the Year.

In 2015, 4-year-old Father Patrick had one victory in five starts — the Maxie Lee.

As a stallion with three crops racing, Father Patrick has sired winners of more than $12.4 million with two millionaires: 2019 Dan Patch Trotter of the Year and 3-year-old Trotting Colt of the Year Greenshoe 3,1:49.4 ($1,353,772), winner of the 2019 Kentucky Futurity and Zweig Memorial; and 2019 and 2020 Breeders Crown and 2020 Kentucky Futurity winner, world champion Amigo Volo 3,1:50.2f ($1,550,044).

PEACEFUL WAY

Foaled on Feb. 27, 2001 in Arva, Ontario, world champion trotting mare Peaceful Way garnered a career race record of 52-33-3-2 and earnings of $2,746,240. She retired as the third-leading North American moneywinning trotting mare of all time, behind Moni Maker and Peace Corps.

In her 2003 freshman season, Peaceful Way finished on the board in nine out of 10 starts with eight wins and earnings of $733,726. Major victories included the Goldsmith Maid, Oakville and Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final. The season’s leading 2-year-old moneywinning trotter, Peaceful Way was voted O’Brien 2-year-old Trotting Filly of the Year.

Three-year-old Peaceful Way won 11 of 15 starts with one second and earnings of $601,762 — second among trotting fillies in 2004. Victories included the Delvin Miller Memorial, Ontario SBOA Trotting Stakes and Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final. Peaceful Way was voted O’Brien 3-year-old Trotting Filly of the Year.

As a 4-year-old in 2005, Peaceful Way earned $660,804, with nine wins in 10 starts. Major victories included the Breeders Crown, Armbro Flight, American-National and Classic Oaks. In a Classic Oaks preliminary leg, she tied the world record of 1:51.4 for 4-year-old trotting mares on a mile track. Peaceful Way was voted 2005 Dan Patch and O’Brien Older Trotting Mare of the Year.

In 2006, 5-year-old Peaceful Way’s victories included the Maple Leaf Trot, Armbro Flight and Matchmaker. In addition to $709,763 in earnings, she received her second consecutive Dan Patch and O’Brien Older Trotting Mare of the Year Award.
