Ciuffetelli wins NAADA consolation race

Monticello, NY — The second tier of point-earners in the NAADA series raced for $9,000 Wednesday (May 18) at Monticello Raceway and Tony Ciuffetelli and Makin Trouble K emerged victorious by 3-1/4 lengths in 2:00.3 over Zagster and Matt Zuccarello.

With the 2-5 betting favorite Stormy Dangles (Peter Kleinhans) making a break at the start of the race, Mr Ridgetaker and driver Dave Yarock assumed command. Makin Trouble K settled in second behind the leader after a :28.2 first quarter.

Once in front, Yarock kept the pedal to the metal as they zipped by the half in :59.3. Still showing the way, Mr Ridgetaker braced for a challenge from Makin Trouble K. When they trotted by the three-quarters in 1:30, they were heads apart and remained that way around the final turn.

But as they straightened and headed for pay-dirt, Makin Trouble K began to ease to the front and then cleared to a 3-1/4 length victory. Zuccarello hustled Zagster by the tiring Mr Ridgeraker to gain second money as Yarock’s trotter finished third.

Makin Trouble K, an 8-year-old mare by Rose Run Hooligan, is owned by Bruce Aldrich Jr. and trained by Laura Aldrich. She paid $9.80 for the win.

Thursday night (May 19) at Yonkers Raceway, the top series point-earners will compete in the $15,000 NAADA series final.
