Clyde Mattison, 85, dies

Columbus, OH — Former New England harness horseman Clyde Mattison, of Hinsdale, N.H., has passed away at the age of 85 after a long illness.

Mattison amassed 312 driving wins throughout his career, piloting his final winner at Rochester, N.H., in September 1996.

Mattison came from a family of horsemen, including sons, brothers and many nephews involved in racing. He leaves behind his wife, Kathy; son, Bruce (Lynne); daughters, Lynne (Dan Rice), Sandy, and Eileen (Larry Murray); grandson, Brad Rice; and granddaughters, Ashlee, Brittany and Brianna. Mattison was preceded in death by a son, Alan.
