DiCicco named veterinary and biosecurity compliance officer at The ARK at JFK Airport

Queens, NY — Vincent DiCicco, DVM, a member of the Harness Racing Medication Committee, will join The ARK at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s management team as veterinary and biosecurity compliance officer, effective Jan. 2, 2020.

DiCicco has been deemed uniquely qualified for this role based on his 40-year experience as an equine practitioner at Belmont Park, Yonkers, Saratoga, Aqueduct and Roosevelt racetracks. His responsibilities at the ARK’s facilities, which are located in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y., include oversight of import and on-site quarantine biosecurity. In addition, DiCicco provides practice consulting for small animal veterinarians and is familiar with all shipping requirements for companion animals. DiCicco holds a Category 2 USDA accredited veterinary license and somehow finds time to serve on the USTA’s HRMC along with some of the best academics, equine research pharmacologists and practicing veterinarians in the nation.

Separate and apart from this highly regarded compliance position at The ARK, DiCicco will continue to provide veterinary medical services to the JFK and New York equine stakeholder community in support of equine imports and provide veterinary care to those traveling with their domestic animals. All imports for the Yonkers International Trot come through this state of the art facility at JFK. DiCicco’s offices will be located within The ARK’s corporate headquarters at 78A North Boundary Road. His email address will be vdicicco@arkjfk.com, and any questions on the import or export of race horses can usually and promptly be answered by him.

DiCicco received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy. He lives with his wife in Stamford, Conn.

The USTA is extremely proud to have DiCicco’s expertise available in the service and interest of harness racing’s fight for separate and uniform rules regulating the use of medications in the sport.

The ARK is a full-service private animal health, reception and quarantine facility located in Cargo Area D at John F. Kennedy International Airport, and is dedicated to the safe and humane transport of animals as cargo by air.
