Donna Marie Frizell, 81, dies

Columbus, OH — Donna Marie Frizell, 81, died Sept. 27, 2020.

She was born Nov. 30, 1938 and was a resident of Leslie, Mich.

She spent her long happy life being a trainer of Standardbreds. Within the past few years, she happily worked for Staci Malady, Sarena Evans, Al Tomlison, and most recently for the Casagranda Racing Stable.

She was a hard working, caring, loving and all around wonderful woman. In the extra time she had, when she wasn’t spending it with the horses, she loved to garden, plant flowers and cook. She was always there to lend a helping hand to any one who may have needed it.

She loved her animals and had a special bond with many of them, especially her dog, Kiwi, and her two cats. She had a special gift when it came to race horses. Some of those whom she loved and that loved her just as much were Lundin, Virtual Princess, Dimes N Dollars, and most recently S F Donttellonme. She was one of a kind and had the ability to see the good in any animal, person, or situation.

She is survived by her Standardbred racing family from California to New York and everywhere in between.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her life can make a contribution to Free Spirit Sanctuary online at www.freespiritsanctuary.org/donate. Free Spirit Sanctuary is a horse rescue that gives forever homes to retired work horses. FSS shares the same values about their horses as Donna did in her time on Earth.

An outdoor memorial celebration will be held Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Leslie First Baptist Church Youth Center (The Garage). Please follow all health and safety guidelines being required by the Ingham County Health Department including masks.
