Double header day highlights from the Great Darke Co. (OH) Fair

Greenville, OH — The Great Darke County Fair’s 4-day meet continued Saturday (Aug. 17) with 10 races in the morning and a 16 race card in the evening.

In the morning session, driver Jeff Nisonger continued his domination with 3 driving wins, but Christopher Hope was hot on his heels with 2 driving wins and 1 training win.

The fastest mile of the morning session came in race 7 as Just Zip It cruised to an easy victory after cutting the mile.  She is conditioned and owned by Chris McGuire and driven to victory by Jeff Nisonger.

In the evening session’s fourth race, trotter Homer Hall smashed the track record at The Great Darke Co. Fair for 3-year-old male trotters in 1:58.0, winning by 14 lengths with driver Ryan Holton. He is trained by Steve Carter, cared for by David Young II, owned by Steve Carter, Jay Mossbarger, and Cass Gallagher and bred by Midland Acres, Inc. The previous record was 1:59 set by Magic Vacation.

Driver Ryan Holton led the evening card driving colony with 4 wins and Jeff Nisonger finished with 3. In the first three racecards, Jeff Nisonger has garnered a whopping 15 wins to lead all drivers through the midway point of the 4-day race meet.

On Thursday (Aug. 22), the race card will feature the 2- and 3-year-old Parshall Futurity; the Annie Oakley Shoot Out featuring the Spring Haven Farm Ladies Driving Series; the Arnie Almahurst Open Trot and the Gene Riegle Memorial Open Pace.
