Dresden ready for opening day

Dresden, ON — When starter Dave Prior calls the horses behind the gate for Sunday’s (June 7) first race at Dresden Raceway it will be a different feeling as Ontario’s Little Saratoga’s grandstand will be empty.

“It will be different with no fans at Dresden,” said driver Tyler Borth, adding, “It’s a track where you can feel the excitement of the fans because they are so close to the track.”

Borth is hoping for a good season this year at Dresden.

“I have to be on the top of my game because we have some good drivers at that little track but I know I will be competitive.”

Dresden Raceway’s opening day card will feature 10 races as horses and drivers compete for more than C$41,000 in purses. The track will be getting some attention from American betters as the signal will be broadcast on betting sites Twin Spires, TVG and Ibet.com.

Post time for the first race is slated for 1 p.m. and qualifiers will be held at 11 a.m. with all COVID-19 protocols in place.
