Easy Lover Hanover victorious again in Preferred

Milton, ON – Easy Lover Hanover extended his win streak to four with a victory in Saturday’s (Dec.15) $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The Ben Wallace trained five-year-old gelding defeated nine rivals in this week’s edition of the Preferred.

Driven by Doug McNair, Easy Lover Hanover got away fifth and sat in mid-pack until approaching the half. Nirvana Seelster blasted to the lead to post a :27.1 opening-quarter before getting a soft second-quarter of :30.3.

Easy Lover Hanover worked his way up to Nirvana Seelster’s wheel on the far turn with the original leader holding a lead of just over a length at three-quarters in 1:26.2.

In the stretch, Easy Lover Hanover was too much for his rival to handle and powered home in :26.4 for a 1:53.2 victory. Nocturnal Bluechip finished second a length back, while Pointomygranson was third.

Owned by NLG Racing Stable, Easy Lover Hanover collected his eighth win of the season and 33rd of his career. The gelded son of Somebeachsomewhere has earned C$211,940 this season to bring his career earnings to C$793,449.

A $2 win ticket on Easy Lover Hanover returned $3.70.

McNair’s victory behind Easy Lover Hanover was one of four for Canada’s reigning Driver of the Year on the Saturday card. He also scored victories with Superficial ($45.80), Winning Lyric ($5.90) and Bills Fella ($4.80).

The team of driver Jonathan Drury and trainer Carmen Auciello also had a big night, as they combined to win the final three races on the card. The Drury/Auciello ‘hat-trick’ consisted of Big Bang Boom ($4), Always A Hotshot ($6.60) and Major Hill ($4).
