Eddie Davis Jr., Ken Schlotzhauer post triples at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Driver Eddie Davis Jr. and trainer Ken Schlotzhauer each had three wins as part of a rewarding Wednesday night (April 17) at Rosecroft Raceway.

Davis opened the night with the first of two wins for trainer Brian Wright as Cedar Hall Heiress blew by a hard used pacesetter Rodeo Blues in the stretch for an impressive seven length win in 1:54.3 for owner Dale Hall Jr.

Davis’ other two wins produced nice mutuel rewards, as a sensational drive with Artspell produced a win where all six horses were within a length in the photo, returning $35. Daniel Munson trains the winner for Greg Gardner.

In the finale, Camturo Beach, making his second start after a two-year layoff, won in 1:54.4 for Eugene Robinson and trainer Katie Flaherty and returned $14.

Schlotzhauer, a multiple training champion at Rosecroft, picked up wins with Candy Stash and driver Frank Milby, Madiba for John Wagner, and Endless Summer for Roger Plante. Tom Cooke owns all three mares.

Plante won earlier in the card with trotter Irish Izzy who put forth a big effort from post eight. Steve LeBlanc trains the 3-year-old Groton Hall offspring bred by owner Dr. William Solomon. She was perhaps the best value on the card returning an impressive $12 to win, as the public jumped on the first time starter HS Judy Jetson. She won a qualifier at Pinehurst by a city block in 1:59. She got locked in, however, and was shuffled back and was never in the race, finishing sixth.

Milby picked up a second win with his own Get Real Rusty who was making her second start for the Milby barn.

Wright’s second win came from Miss Apples, who had not seen the winner’s circle in two years. Jonathan Roberts picked up the first of his two wins. Dale Hall Jr. picked up his second owning win of the card.

Roberts took the $12,500 Mares Open with Winter Games in an uneventful 1:54. Megan Tolson trains for her Dad and owner Bib Roberts.
