Anderson, IN — Emma Town Bud and Mike Oosting turned in a decisive, near gate-to-wire effort for a 1:54 win in the featured attraction at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Thursday (Sept. 10), a $59,500 Indiana Sires Stakes event for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings.
Oosting sent Emma Town Bud for early position from post four, but yielded the lead to Swan In Motion and Ricky Macomber Jr. through the opening panel in :28.2. Emma Town Bud wanted his turn on the front and ranged up to take command just before the :58.2 half.
After mild first-half fractions, Emma Town Bud began to put his talent on display and was on top by four lengths through the third station in 1:27. Swan In Motion made a costly break turning for home, which left Emma Town Bud in a race against the clock. Emma Town Bud used a :27 closing kick to finish five lengths to the good and stopped the timer in 1:54. Anchors Away and Sam Widger saved ground to get up for second while Dude Included and John DeLong trotted evenly for third. Emma Town Bud returned $3.20 to win.
Emma Town Bud, who races for trainer Byron Hooley and Summit Pacing Acres LLC, now owns a 19-7-5-2 lifetime record. The son of Big Stick Lindy and Centerfold Lady has amassed $202,457 in earnings.
Indiana Sires Stakes action will continue at Harrah’s Hoosier Park on Friday (Sept. 11), with two $32,000 divisions for 3-year-old pacing fillies. The evening’s 14-race card will also feature a $10,000 guaranteed Hoosier High-5 pool in the last race of the program. Post time is 6:30 p.m.
