Fair Roundup: Freshman pacers in action in Clearfield

Tuesday’s (August 4) edition of Fair Roundup features results stories from the Clearfield (PA) Fair and the Bowling Green (OH) Fair.

Freshman pacers in action in Clearfield

Clearfield, PA — The 2-year-old pacers were in action on Tuesday in Clearfield, Pa., the second day of the four-day meet at the Clearfield County Fair.

Two groups of Quaker Pacers opened the day, and Camerosa was a 2:11.1 winner in the first division. Owned by Virginia and Kathy Schoeffel and trained by Steve Schoeffel, Camerosa (The Panderosa) was a winner for driver Brady Brown. In the second division, Milano Grande scored in 2:02.3 for driver Jordon Miller. Michael Grande owns the Arturo filly, while JC Miller trains.

In the first of five divisions of PA Sire Stake filly pacers, Ms America (Allamerican Ingot) was a winner in 2:03.2. Roger Hammer trains and reined the winner for owner Leslie Moore.

NF Native Lady scored in 2:02.4, the fastest of five divisions for freshman pacing fillies.

In the second division, NF Native Lady was a wire-to-wire winner for trainer/driver George Heit. The daughter of Allamerican Native covered the mile in 2:02.4 for her owners, the Brush & Briar Stable and the Rusty Fence Stable.

Rose Blast (The Panderosa) won her first career race in the third division, pacing in 2:05.2 for lessee, trainer and driver Bryce Brocklehurst.

Hammer returned to take the fourth split, guiding his own Bliss Falcon to a 2:05 win, her first in six career starts. Bliss Falcon is a daughter of Blissfull Hall.

The final division was won by Native Costume (Allamerican Native), out of the Todd Schadel barn. Schadel drove the winner to a 2:04.2 win.

Luscious Al equaled the track record of 2:01 for 2-year-old pacing colts.

The day ended with four groups of freshman pacing colts in Sire Stake action. Luscious Al equaled the track record for 2-year-old colt pacers in the first division, pacing in 2:01. Hammer sat near the back of the pack through the first quarter of :30.1, then moved him to the front before the half in 1:00.2, then hit the three-quarter pole in 1:29 before cruising to the win. Hammer also owns and trains the Arturo gelding, who has now won four of nine starts.

DVC Givemeattitude remained undefeated through seven fair starts by capturing the second division in 2:01.1 for owner/trainer/driver Dave Brickell. DVC Givemeattitude is a son of Arturo.

In the third split, McRum N Coke scored in 2:03.1 for trainer/driver Joe Offutt, who co-owns the son of McArdle with Samuel Stoltzfus.

Finally, McDickerson was a winner in the day’s last event, pacing in 2:02.3 for driver Eric Neal. The McArdle gelding is owned by Randy and Cliff Neal, Eric’s father and grandfather, respectively.

Wood County Fair racing begins

Bowling Green, OH — The Wood County Fair at Bowling Green, Ohio opened its two-day meet with an 11-race card on Tuesday afternoon.

Jessica Page (Jailhouse Jesse-Patti Page) captured the first of three divisions of the 2-year-old filly trot in 2:11.2. Tom Moore, Jr. handled the lines on the filly while Chad Williamson does the training and Skip Miller picks up the bills.

Mary Ann and Patrick Konesky’s Lofty Mom (Ilooklikemymom-Lofty Sahbra) took the second split in 2:12. John Konesky III is the trainer-driver of Lofty Mom.

The third division went to Ilikeher Charm (Ilooklikemymom-Charmin) in 2:10 for trainer-driver Larry Rheinheimer. Michael Collins pays the expenses on the filly.

Paul Russell’s R E Shawn (Jailhouse Jesse-Dick’s Lil Sister) won the first division of the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:05.2. Ryan Stahl did the driving with Ann Russell doing the training.

Trainer-driver John Konesky III guided Jesse Fect (Jailhouse Jesse-Perfect Comer) to victory in the second division in 2:06.4. Mary Ann and Patrick Konesky are the owners of Jesse Fect.

Funny Lena (Full Of Fun-Lady Laney) found the winner’s circle in the lone division of the 2-year-old filly pace after a mile in 2:05. Ryan Stahl is the owner-driver of the filly, and Alan Smith does the training.

Stablecreekcruiser (Yankee Cruiser-Hey Girlfriend) won the only division of the 3-year-old filly pace for driver Ryan Stahl. Barb Lewis trains the filly and also co-owns her with Jeanine Dunn. Stablecreekcruiser toured the Bowling Green oval in 2:03.1.
