Wednesday’s (August 5) edition of Fair Roundup features results stories from the Clearfield (PA) Fair and the Bowling Green (OH) Fair.

Sophomore trotters in action in Clearfield

Clearfield, PA — The 3-year-old trotters faced the starter in 11 heats on Wednesday afternoon in Clearfield, Pa., for the third day of the Clearfield County Fair meet.

RT Sun Poco (Yankee Paco) was a winner in the day’s first race, a 3-year-old Quaker Stake. The filly trotted the mile in 2:04.3 for trainer/driver Bobby Rougeaux. The Brocious Racing Stable, Inc., owns the winner. In the second Quaker division, Battle Of Whits (Donerail) scored in 2:08.3 for owner/trainer/driver Kim Good.

With The Meadows on a one-week hiatus, the box was filled with 3-year-old PA Sire Stake trotting fillies, as five divisions were carded.

The first division brought Kim Good her second win of the day, as Lady B Pearl (Topgun Hall) was a winner in 2:06.1.

In the second division, BS Genny trotted to victory in 2:05.4 for driver Dave Brickell. Dean and Sue Brickell own the daughter of Malabar Millennium, while Sue does the training.

The Brocious Racing Stable and Rougeaux teamed for their second win of the afternoon in the third division, as RT’s SJ (SJ’s Caviar) was a 2:06.1 winner.

Next, Annie’s Wonder, a Wonder Dancer filly, captured her split in 2:06. Bryce and Cindy Truitt own the filly, with Cindy doing the training and Bryce handling the driving duties.

The final filly division was won by Keystone Twilight, a daughter of Cantab Hall. Owned, trained and reined by Todd Schadel, Keystone Twilight trotted the mile in 2:08.4.

Schadel returned to the winner’s circle in the next race, the first division of the PASS colt trot, with Technicalybroadway. The Broadway Hall gelding crossed the wire in 2:04.2.

Schtark Gal, a gelding by Tagliabue, was a winner in the second division in 2:05.3. Ed McNeight, Jr. drove for owner Daniel Esh and trainer Matthew Aukamp.

Columbia County (Sierra Kosmos) was a winner in the third group, trotting in 2:02.1, the fastest mile of the day. Owned by John and Michelle McMullen, Columbia County was driven to victory by Wilbur Yoder. John McMullen trains.

Finally, Naughty Pajamas ended the day with a win in the last division of the colt trot. The SJ’s Caviar colt trotted in 2:04.1 for owner/trainer Joe Offutt and driver Timmy Offutt.

Clearfield’s final day of racing is Thursday. Post time is 12 Noon.

Racing concludes in Bowling Green

Bowling Green, OH — The Wood County Fair at Bowling Green, Ohio completed its two-day meet on Wednesday night with ten races.

Curly Top (Emile Angus-Platinum Plus) was victorious in the first division of the 3-year-old filly trot for owner-trainer-driver Jerry Lighthill with a mile in 2:03.3. G. B. Reddin’s Sassey Sauterelle (Ilooklikemymom-JH Sauterelle) took the second split in 2:04 for trainer-driver John Konesky III.

The lone division of the 3-year-old colt pace went to Booze Cruiser (Yankee Cruiser-Sassy Pants) in 1:59.2. Duke Sugg handled the lines on the gelding with Jim Mulinix doing the training and Miller’s Stable, Inc. and Dan Murray paying the bills.

Hi Hopes Cruiser (Yankee Cruiser-Odds On Elaine) took the first division of the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:02.3. The colt is owned by Ivan Sugg, Dr. Robert Hutchison, and Dr. Randy Hutchison. Duke Sugg is the trainer-driver of Hi Hopes Cruiser. Bruce Farquhar’s Contraband (Stand Forever-RG Firefly) equaled the track’s 2-year-old colt pacing record in the second division with a mile in 2:01.4. Farquhar does the training of the colt with Mike Wolfe doing the driving.

Jason Thompson guided Colt’s Toy to victory in the only division of the 3-year-old colt trot. Richard McDowell is the owner-trainer of the gelding. Colt’s Toy toured the Bowling Green oval in 2:05.4.

The track’s overall pacing mark was equaled in the first division of a conditioned pace. Lusty Me, an 8-year-old gelding, paced a mile in 1:58 for lessee-trainer-driver Kirk Dennis. Max Shaw owns Lusty Me.

Incidentally, the second division of the conditioned pace went to the other co-holder of the track record, Birthday Present. Birthday Present paced his 1:58 mile in 2006, but only had to go in 2:02 to find the winner’s circle this year.
