In the first classic race for the French crop of 2016, the Criterium des Jeunes, Bold Eagle was represented by the filly Green Grass, driven by Gabriele Gelormini. But facing the unbeaten colt Gotland (sired by Ready Cash), driven by Eric Raffin, chances for a win seemed unlikely.

However, Gotland broke stride and was disqualified and placed last, while Green Grass managed to hold off a late charge from another Ready Cash colt, Golden Bridge, driven by Yoann Lebourgeois, to win this Group 1 event.

This was win number six from 19 races for Green Grass, who is now the richest French 3-year-old trotter with winnings of $270,000.

Offspring to Ready Cash and his sons dominated the Criterium des Jeunes, not only the start list with six entries, but also the result. 1. Green Grass sired by Bold Eagle (Ready Cash); 2. Golden Bridge sired by Ready Cash; 3. Girls Talk sired by Brillantissime (Ready Cash); 4. Gatsy Perrine sired by Bird Parker (Ready Cash); 6. Granon Vedaquais sired by Brillantissime (Ready Cash); and Disqualified, Gotland sired by Ready Cash.
