The first trotter to the 2021 Elitlopp at Solvalla was invited Wednesday night and to no surprise, it was handed to the Danish-bred, Swedish-owned, and Norwegian-trained Ecurie D.
The 5-year-old Ecurie D, with Björn Goop in the bike, returned to action in a race over 1-5/16th miles at Solvalla Wednesday night (April 8) and won very easily in 1:57.2f (mile rate), followed by Milliondollarrhyme and Forfantome Am.
After the race the connections to Ecurie D were handed the invitation, which was accepted.
Ecurie D is the likely favorite for the Elitlopp. The bookmaker Unibet has him as the favorite at 3-1.
Ecurie D will now be aimed for the first big international stake in Sweden this year, the Paralympic Trot at Aby, on May 9.
