Four wins for Marohn at Freehold

Freehold, NJ — Jim Marohn Jr. kicked off his December at Freehold Raceway in a big way on Friday (Dec. 6), as he piloted home four winners on the nine-race program.

Marohn got his first victory in the 3rd race, guiding Catalyst to the winner’s circle for trainer Jody Dunning. He picked up another victory in the fifth race, steering Tom Fanning’s Unspoken Promise to an easy win. The hat trick was completed with 1-5 Mugshot Jess in the seventh race, who won for trainer Taylor Gower.

Marohn got his fourth driving Canary Hanover in race 8, who had to fly down the stretch to get up over So It Goes Hanover in the last stride. Bucky Angle trained that winner.

Marohn’s big afternoon gives him 47 winners on the calendar year at Freehold, from 300 drives. He has 20 wins from 105 mounts since the resumption of racing on Aug. 30.

Live racing continues at Freehold on Saturday, with a first post time scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
