Humboldt, IA — Eight of nine fields of Iowa-registered 2-year-olds had winners take new lifetime marks on a 90 degree day at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds on Saturday (Sept. 15).

Two-year-old pacing filly Snobbytown was back in prime form after returning from Ohio Sires Stakes racing in August. The Nob Hill High filly had paced in 1:53.4 at El Dorado Scioto Downs. After a 12-hour ship back to Iowa, the filly posted an uncharacteristic second place on Sept. 1. She found the winner’s circle again last weekend at What Cheer and today took a new lifetime mark of 2:01.1 with John Saner in the bike. Snobbytown is trained by Saner and owned by Saner and Lesa Peters.

Also putting out an impressive mile was Heavy Handed Hanna in the second division of 2-year-old pacing fillies. Will Roland drove the Curtis Carey trained Millionaire Cam filly in a pocket trip, tipping out in the final turn to pass Vyin For Attention. Vyin For Attention, a Well Said filly with only four starts, posted the fastest 2-year-old filly mile of 2018 in Iowa on Sept. 1, 2:01.3 at What Cheer.

Heavy Handed Hanna made a spectacular stretch run crossing the wire in 2:01, a new lifetime mark that bumps her to the top of the speed rankings for owners Jesse Delong, Lindsay Reuckert and Jeff Carey.

Coming off of four consecutive second place finishes, My Money Honey hadn’t seen the winner’s circle since July. The Rick Huffman trainee raced off the starting gate capturing the front before passing the quarter pole in :31.2. Driver Will Roland kept the Iowa-sired Sneaky B Skipalong gelding on point holding off a late charge by Frisky Pedro to win by half a head in 2:03.3, a new lifetime mark. My Money Honey is owned by Huffman and his granddaughter Kayveonna Johnson.

The 2018 Iowa-registered 2-year-old pacing colts points leader Oh Toodles recovered from an early break to win his division. Driven by Adam Hauser, the Iowa-sired Relentless Yankee gelding paced home in 2:04 for trainer Scott Smith and owners Debbie Philipp and Shirley Smith.

Coming off her first lifetime win at What Cheer last weekend, CR Blaze added another win to her card in the lone field of 2-year-old trotting fillies. The Iowa-sired daughter of Amigo Ranger shot off the gate and burned to the front with Rob Anderson in the bike. Iowa-registered points leader Bankn-On-Emily settled into second earning a pocket trip and made a move down the final stretch, but CR Blaze added more fuel to the fire trotting home in 2:03.2, the fastest Iowa 2-year-old trot in 2018 to date. CR Blaze is owned by Rick & CD Huffman.

Top 2-year-old trotting colt Ricky Be Sharp improved his record to eight wins in 12 starts. Trained, leased and driven by Lorenza Gooch, Ricky Be Sharp trotted across the wire in 2:04.2, a new lifetime mark for the American Native son out of a Valley Victor mare. After two scratches, the second division of trotting colts was down to a field of four. Following two breaks, one in the first turn and another the second time down the backstretch, the Iowa-sired Motorcade colt ducked into the passing lane and surged down inside in a winning bid to take the field in a lifetime best 2:08.4 for owner, trainer and driver Gary Liles.

Both B-Class race winners also posted new personal bests. The field of seven trotters, all non-winners of $3,000 in 2018, went to driver and trainer Dan Roland with first time winner Skipnrocksonthrivr. The 2-year-old Abra colt trotted home in 2:10.3 for owner Jenni King. The final race of the day, the non-winners of $3,000 in 2018 pace, went to I’ll Deal A Queen. Driven by Will Roland, the Idealism filly shaved almost four seconds off her previous mark pacing across the finish in 2:05.3 for owner and trainer Paul Liles.

Iowa racing action continues Sunday, Sept. 16 when Iowa-registered 3-year-olds take to the track for the last time before the first Iowa County Fairs Championship weekend to be held at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds on Sept. 22 and 23. Post time for all races is 12:30 p.m. Central
