Freshman Matron Stakes set for Thursday at Dover Downs

Dover, DE — Four divisions of the Matron Stakes for 2-year-old pacers and trotters highlight the Dover Downs Thursday (Nov. 7) racing card.

In the $147,600 division for 2-year-old filly trotters, trainer Per Engblom sends out two in Rebecca Clark and Queen Of The Hill. They join a of field of four trotters in a non-wagering race. Complete entries can be found at this link.

On the pari-mutuel card, the $176,400 division for 2-year-old filly pacers is led by Lyons Sentinel, trained by Jim King Jr. Lyons Sentinel has finished first or second in all 12 of her starts and has bankrolled $666,775 so far this year.

The $181,600 division for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters showcases Breeders Crown champion Amigo Volo, who looks to add to his $514,696 in earnings this year.

Probably the most competitive division on the night will be the $186,000 Matron for 2-year-old colt pacers. Papi Rob Hanover, who finished first in the Breeders Crown, but later was disqualified and placed second, looks to make amends. He has bankrolled $462,858 this year.
