Goshen Yearling Sale alumni were dominant in 2019 NYSS finals

Middletown, NY — The 2019 Goshen Yearling Sale had a record session last fall as the auction that produces winners continues to grow. Each year quality horses offered by top breeders have changed hands at this sale and have gone on to great success. This was never more evident than in the 2019 New York Sire Stake finals.

Ten yearlings that sold at the GYS in 2017 and 2018 accounted for 15 percent of the 2019 NYSS finalists, earned more than 26 percent ($477,000) of the $1.8 million in purses offered on finals night and produced three state champions in the process.

Those champions included 3-year-old pacing colt division winner Hickfromfrenchlick (So Surreal-My Girl’s A Star, 1:48.4f, $638,677), 2-year-old pacing colt division winner Cigars And Port (So Surreal-Sweet On Art, 1:54h, $198,576) and 2-year-old pacing filly division winner The Fun Marshall (So Surreal-Hallmark Hanover, 1:54.2h, $182,496).

Other GYS representatives in those finals included Groovy Joe (Roll With Joe-Chotat Milk, 1:48.4s, $315,073), So Rude (So Surreal-I Am A Snob, Q1:52.1, $210,496), Beerthirty K (Credit Winner-Venus Hall, Q1:57.4f, $126,071), Splash Brother (So Surreal-Sugarcoated, 1:48.2, $282,533), Major Blake (Art Major-Bet Your Life, 1:50.3h, $143,643), Captain Krupnik (Conway Hall-Salt Hill Brigid, 1:54f, $135,488) and Really Blue Chip (Credit Winner-Muscles Secret, 2:01h, $34,746).

The average sale price of the 10 starters was $24,800.

Some other notable stakes-winning alumni of the Goshen Yearling Sale from previous years include Clear Idea (American Ideal-Glass Maker, 1:50.4f, $612,333); Scuola Hanover (A Rocknroll Dance-So Artsi, 1:50.4f, $320,697); Ostro Hanover (Betterthancheddar-Ozmopolitan, 1:50.3f, $314,966); Rootin Tootin (Roll With Joe-Wild Retreat, 1:49.3f, $272,171); Natalie Hanover (Chapter Seven-Nanticoke Hanover, 1:54.1s, $227,328); Shes A Billionair (Artiscape-She’s Game, 1:53.3f, $198,623); Venier Hanover (Well Said-Valmctorian, 1:53h, $173,724) and Major Blake (Art Major-Bet Your Life, 1:50.3h, $143,643).
