Governor Pritzker announces appointment to Illinois Racing Board

Chicago, IL — On July 1, 2020, Governor JB Pritzker appointed Leslie H. Breuer Jr. of Highland, Ill., to the Illinois Racing Board.

After receiving his PhD degree in animal nutrition from Cornell University, Dr. Breuer conducted horse nutrition research at Texas A&M University and supervised the Horse Research Center. Following his tenure in Texas, he was Director of Equine Nutrition and Research at Ralston Purina in St. Louis, Mo., where he studied the nutritional requirements of athletic and geriatric horses and developed new feed products. After retiring from Ralston Purina, he became a nutrition consultant to the horse industry.

Dr. Breuer is a past president of the Equine Science Society and received their Distinguished Service Award in Equine Science in 2003.
