Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association announces driving series at Northfield Park

Lexington, MI — The Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association will feature a nine-race amateur series starting Dec. 7 and concluding on Feb. 1 at Northfield Park.

Each leg will have a purse of $7,500 with a $12,500 final.

The horse conditions are non-winners of $6,001 last five and $1.750 per start in 2019 with allowance for Billings starts, or $15,000 claimers.

“The C.K.G. Billings Harness Driving Club raced regularly at Northfield all summer and was very popular with the betting public so Dave Bianconi asked if we wanted to continue racing,” stated GLADA club president Steve Oldford. “GLADA was a mainstay at Hazel Park for years and was popular with the drivers and betters, frequently being the best bet races on the card.”

Drivers who have not raced professionally in the last ten years are encouraged to join. There is a $100 fee per driver for the series. The drivers’ commission for the races will be donated to charities through GLADA.

Entries for the first leg are due Monday (Dec. 2). You can enter online or by calling the Northfield race office.
