Hall enjoys six-bagger, wins Meadows feature with Summer Charm

Washington, PA — Hammered down to 1-5, Summer Charm justified the support with a front-end victory — her third straight — in Tuesday’s (Nov. 24) $17,900 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap at The Meadows. It was one of six wins for Tony Hall — including three for trainer Scott Betts — on the 13-race card.

Summer Charm scored in 1:52, holding off a serious late challenge from Diamondtequilashot that fell a half length short. Newsday was a ground-saving third.

Betts trains Summer Charm, a 4-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight and Lover Of Art who now boasts career earnings of $369,100, for Tim Betts, Nick Catalano, Keith Pippi and Brookside Stables.

Tuesday’s much-anticipated Super Hi-5, with its six-figure carryover and mandatory payout, generated a pool exceeding $470,000. When Entranced won at 18-1 and 70-1 bomb Wingnut Dinger finished fourth, a rich payoff was assured. Indeed, multiple winners each collected $30,692.02.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday (Nov. 25); first post is 12:45 p.m.
