Hallie’s Comet, Bo Mach take Dover features

Dover, DE — Hallie’s Comet pushed the pace up the backstretch and held late to win the $27,500 Blue Hen Pace on Thursday night (Jan. 23) at Dover Downs.

Late Mail N left quickly, but yielded to Grantmeawish and Dexter Dunn and Grantmeawish, who cut early fractions of :26.3 and :55. Hallie’s Comet and Yannick Gingras pulled at the half and pressured Grantmeawish through a :27.1 third quarter, while Late Mail N remained in the pocket. Beach Art tipped three-wide off live cover entering the stretch, and 6-5 favorite Little Ben swung four-wide.

Hallie’s Comet wore Late Mail N down to take the lead at head-stretch, and ultimately held on to win by a neck in 1:51. Little Ben closed to finish second, while Beach Art finished third.

Bo Mach shocked at 24-1 in the $25,000 Open Pace.

Eddard Hanover blasted out of the gate and Bo Mach rode the pocket behind fractions of :27, :55.3 and 1:23 before sneaking up the rail to win by a length in in a lifetime best 1:50.4. Eddard Hanover finished second, and Rock The Nite rallied off third-over cover to finish third.
