Columbus, OH — Harness racing will get a plug from CBS affiliate WMBD out of Peoria, Ill., on Thursday, July 24, at 6:00 p.m. (CDT).

The news channel is doing a feature this summer called “The Heartland Salutes.” It is about different happenings and festivals and small communities in the midwest. The July 24 feature will be about county fair harness racing. Interviewed for the program were Jann Logue of Washington, Ill., and H. W. (Bill) Wright from Morton, Ill.

They explained the tie-in of harness racing with the whole agricultural industry in Illinois and how they benefit one another. Illinois has 38 county fairs with harness racing and 40,000 jobs are supported in the state by the race horse industry.

WMBD telecasts to a huge area throughout central Illinois.
