Hawk’s Cry Electra becomes fastest freshman filly in ’09

Columbus, OH — Hawk’s Cry Electra, a daughter of Mantacular-More Sugar Added, became the fastest freshman pacing filly so far this year when she toured the five-eighths-mile oval at Scioto Downs this morning in a qualifying race in 1:56.2.

Driven by Dan Noble for trainer Brandon Piguet and owners Hawk’s Cry Farm, Zachary King, Brian Dalton and James Davis, Hawk’s Cry Electra sat third through opening fractions of :29 and 1:00, then brushed to the lead on the backstretch. She set subsequent panels of 1:28.2 and 1:56.2 in romping to a 6-3/4 length triumph.

The bay filly is from the second crop of Mantacular p,3,1:51.1 ($1,071,506) and is the fourth foal from the Nobleland Sam mare More Sugar Added p,5,1:52.3 ($126,622). She was bred by Kristy L. Harris.
