Hennessey wins four including feature at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Wally Hennessey just keeps rolling along as he added a grand slam to his impressive resume, including a win with Prairie Westerngal in the featured $9,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace, at Tioga Downs on Saturday (May 15).

Prairie Westerngal ($2.40) went straight to the front. Landry Seelster (Braxten Boyd) came first-up and took the lead just before hitting the first quarter in :27.1. Persistent Bettor (Jody Jamieson) was the next to take the lead. That was short lived as Prairie Westerngal went to the front and headed for the clubhouse turn with the lead. She was first to the half in :56.3. She was challenged down the backstretch by Faithful Desire (Jim Taggart Jr). Prairie Westerngal kept tough and led to three-quarters in 1:24.

As they made the turn for home it was all Prairie Westerngal winning with ease in a lifetime best of 1:52. Persistent Bettor finished second. Landry Seelster was third best.

Prairie Westerngal is a 5-year-old mare by Western Ideal. She is owned by Laurie Poulin, Fritz Racing and trainer Mike Deters. It was her fifth win in 2021. She now owns 18 career victories.

Hennessey got his other wins with Tech Titan ($9.20), Groovey Kid ($8.00), and Lo Hold A Moonbean ($17.80).
