Freehold, NJ — The Illinois Department of Agriculture, Fairs and Horse Racing Bureau, has this year initiated a testing program at that state’s county fair races. The testing program is being conducted pursuant to USTA rules.

At the Western Illinois Fair in Gilbertsville, the horse Invit Warrior, following a third place finish in the sixth race on June 20 for 3-year-old colt pacers, tested positive for Flunixin in violation of USTA rule 21.

After a meeting with the owner of Invit Warrior, Leo Edwards, on July 9, the purse money won by Invit Warrior in the $5,057 race was ordered redistributed. Additionally, trainer Nick Prather was fined $500.
