Illinois update from IHHA

Hinsdale, IL — On Wednesday (May 14), at his daily press conference, Governor Pritzker acknowledged that the return of live horse racing in Illinois was on his radar and he wanted to be confident that it could be done safely.

Along with Hawthorne, the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the Illinois Public Health Department we had submitted a safety plan to the Governor’s office approximately three weeks ago. As we continually strive to seek the Governor’s approval on returning to work, we put out a press release today. Click here to read.

We respect and appreciate the Governor’s concern for public safety but we believe we can return to spectator free racing, following the guidelines listed in “Phase 3 Recovery” of the “Restore Illinois” plan.

Be smart, stay safe.
