In the Money took the money at Vincennes

The 3-year old colt, In the Money with trainer, breeder and owner Thierry Duvaldestin in the bike won the classic Criterium des Jeunes at Vincennes Sunday afternoon (Feb. 21).

Criterium des Jeunes is the first classic race for French 3-year old trotters, raced over 1-11/16 miles.  Just as in the Prix d’Amerique.
Italiano Vero, a colt sired by Ready Cash, trained by Phillippe Allaire and driven by David Thomain was favored to win but had to settle for second.

As 10-1 shot, In the Money and Duvaldestin, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Sunday, finished strong to win by half a length in a new race record of 1:58 (mile rate) breaking the old record of 1.58.2. The winner’s share of the purse was $92,500.

In the Money is from the second crop by the Coktail Jet sired Cristal Money and out of a Ready Cash-mare Destinee Cash.
