Jamigo, Ufdragons Rocket take H3R co-features

Trois-Rivieres, QC — The photo finish camera at the Hippodrome 3R worked overtime Sunday (Nov. 4) as four of the 11 races, including both the Preferred Trot and Pace, needed the camera to declare the winner.

Jamigo was a neck winner in a time of 2:01. Thephotodesk.ca photo.

The first tight finish came in the third race Preferred Trot. The headstrong R Rkadabra and driver Stephane Brosseau cut the mile from the start as usual with Holiday Party (Pascal Berube) sitting the pocket seat. At the half-mile marker, driver Daniel Laflamme was first-over with the 10-1 Jamigo but not gaining much ground on the leaders. As they started down the backstretch, Berube elected to pull the pocket with Holiday Party and go after R Rkadabra past the three-quarter marker.

Laflamme used the outside cover for Jamigo and then tipped three-wide on the turn and then it was Holiday Party and Jamigo fighting to the wire with Jamigo winning by a neck in 2:01. Dance Hall George (Francis Picard) was third.

It was the fifth win this year for Jamigo. The 10-year-old gelding by Amigo Hall is trained and owned by Manon Lamothe. He paid $22.50 to win.

Again, the photo finish camera was needed in the eighth race Preferred Pace. Allstar Seelster and driver Tyler Jones began the show, stuffing Winsun Cheyenne (Pascal Berube) in the pocket seat after battling to the first quarter in :27.2. Comfortable on the lead, Allstar Seelster led to the half in :56.4 as Rainbow Palace (Francis Picard) came first-over with Hoosier Shooter (Stephane Brosseau) second-over. Race favorite Ufdragons Rocket (Stephane Gendron) was boxed in along the rail in fourth place. After the three-quarters in 1:26, Allstar Seelster was still in command as Hooter Scooter tipped out three-wide around the final turn.

As the field started down the stretch, driver Stephane Gendron masterfully moved off the rail with Ufdragons Rocket and weaved past four horses to win by a head over Windsun Cheyenne in 1:56.1. Allstar Seelster was third.

A 9-year-old gelded son of Dragon Again, Ufdragons Rocket is trained by Yves Tessier and owned by Francois Morin. It was his tenth victory of the year and he paid $4.90 to win.

Track Notes: Three drivers scored triples on the afternoon. They were Pascal Berube, Daniel Laflamme and Francis Picard. Elizabeth Carrier led all trainers with two wins.

It was announced yesterday by the Quebec Jockey Club that on the 18th and 25th of November, the last two race days of the season, will be whipless, no whips allowed for the drivers.

Live racing resumes next Sunday, first race post time at 12:50 p.m. For more information, visit www.quebecjockeyclub.com.
