Jeremy Smith has another big day at Dayton

Dayton, OH — Jeremy Smith, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway’s leading driver nearing the halfway point in the current 76-day meet, widened his winning margin in the dash standings with a six-pack of victories on Monday afternoon (Nov. 5).

The 38-year-old reinsman now has 89 triumphs through the first 36 programs, good for a 22-race edge over current runner-up Dan Noble, who sports 67 victories.

Smith made his first visit to the winner’s circle with Billy Nine Toes following a maiden pace timed in 1:55.4. The Mark Rowe trainee paid $12.40 to win. Jeremy next crossed the wire in front behind Queens On Fire (1:55.2, $8.20) for conditioner Mervin Schmucker.

He finished with four consecutive wins behind Pennyspocketchange (1:56, $5.40) for trainer Walter Haynes Jr., Brangus (1:54.2, $3.20) and Loreenas Ruffian (1:52.4, $3.40) for current training leader Virgil Morgan Jr., and lastly hung a new lifetime mark on Basher (1:52.2, $5.20) for trainer Joe Putnam.

Racing at Hollywood Dayton resumes on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 6) with a 14-race matinee card starting at 2:15 p.m.
