Juslikeaqueen returns to her Hollywood Dayton Raceway throne

Dayton, OH — Following a six race absence, Juslikeaqueen returned to the Hollywood Dayton Raceway winner’s circle following the $18,500 Mares Open Pace on Friday night (Nov. 2).

Juslikeaqueen returned to the top of the pacing mares ranks in southwest Ohio, winning the Mares Open at Hollywood Dayton on Friday night in 1:52.1. Conrad photo.

Dispatched at 5-2 odds, the 4-year-old daughter of Palone Ranger won for the sixth time in 2018 and surpassed the $100,000 season earnings plateau in the process.

After leaving alertly and showing the field to the quarter-mile marker in :27.2, driver Jeremy Smith elected to allow fellow leaver American Girl (Dan Noble) to cross over in front just past that station, but moved immediately back to the front on a retake before the :56.3 halfway station was reached.

Racing relatively unchallenged the remainder of the mile, the winner tripped the three-quarter beam in 1:24 and widened to an open lengths score in 1:52.1 at the finish. American Girl held for second, while It’s A Miracle (Tyler Smith) was able to garner the show dough.

Juslikeaqueen is owned and trained by Antonia Storer and paid $7.00 to win. Coupled with American Girl, the exacta returned $22.20.

Driver Josh Sutton strengthened his stranglehold on third place in the local dash standings by winning five of the first 10 races on the card.

The red, white and blue clad reinsman opened the program with some fireworks — scoring with Don’t Sweeten It in 1:55.2, returning a $92.20 win mutuel.

Sutton followed up with triumphs behind Missile J (1:52, $3.80), Dragonology (1:52.1, $9.80), trotter Party At The Banks (1:54.3, $3.00) and Endeavors Star (1:53.3, $12.20). The latter three winners were all conditioned by North America’s leading trainer Ron Burke.
