Justice Reighs placed first in GLADA trot at Northfield

Northfield, OH – As his name states, Justice Reigns, proved undeniable as the Melvin Miller-driven trotter used a first-up journey to score a 1:57.3 victory in the $9,200 GLADA trot tonight (Sept. 13) at Northfield Park. In reality, however, Miller’s trotter actually finished second but due to a racing infraction the first horse under the wire, Riverdancing Diva, driven by Manny Miller, was declared a non-starter.

The trouble came before the start where Riverdancing Diva was not in her nine-hole trailing position and moved up to the mobile gate and sped to the lead when the starter turned the field loose. Consequently, Riverdancing Diva then went wire-to-wire in vain.

As Riverdancing Diva led the racers by the quarter in :28 and past the half in :57.1, Miller had the eventual winner out and winging and Justice Reigns was in second place by the three quarters in 1:26.3. In the stretch no one could catch the leader but it didn’t matter as result of the infraction and Justice Reigns was awarded first-money. Hititoutofthepark (Lauren Harmon) received the place money while Dominus Hanover (Tim Miller) took home the show dough.

The winner, a 9-year-old Justice Hall gelding, is owned by Miller’s Deja Vu Stable and trained by Miller. He paid $17.80 for the win.
