Katz and Libfield buy European champion trotter

At a French internet sale, Perry Söderberg, acting as agent for Marvin Katz and Al Libfield, got the final bid of 300,000 Euros ($321,500) for the 4-year-old French mare Ivensong 1:54.4.

Ivensong has raced 18 times, has five wins and earnings of 207,600 Euro ($222,500).

She won the European Championship for 3-year-old trotters raced over 1-5/16th miles at the Aby track in Sweden last year timed in 1:57f (mile rate). She has also won the Group 2 race Prix Uranie at Vincennes.

Ivensong, who was trained by Philippe Allaire, is sired by Ready Cash and out of Amy Crown, who hails from one of the strongest maternal lines in France. Face Time Bourbon, Mara Bourbon, Sam Bourbon, Qualita Bourbon, and Royal Crown are from this line.

Another trotter was offered at the sale, the 3-year-old Italian filly Diletta Axe, she by Muscle Hill out of Rory Axe sired by Ready Cash. Diletta Axe was unbeaten in four races as a 2-year-old and has a mark of 2:00.1f. She has earnings of 97,700 Euro ($105,000).

Diletta Axe was sold for 205,000 Euro ($219,000) to Jean Pierre Barjon, the president of the French trotting association.
